This notice explains what happens when you use ChristmasIdea. Please do not include names, addresses, health information or other sensitive details in a gift request.

I operate ChristmasIdea as an individual and am the person responsible for your information.

Information and purposes

Gift requests: the description or questionnaire answers you submit are sent to Anthropic to generate gift suggestions. Anthropic's API processes the request; Anthropic is based in the United States.
Rate limits and abuse prevention: the Worker receives the connection IP address. ChristmasIdea uses a salted, daily-changing hash for rate-limit counters rather than intentionally storing the raw address in its own rate-limit state. Cloudflare processes network and request data to host and secure the service.
Illustrative photos: gift/photo search terms are sent to Pexels when photos are requested. Photo lookup results are cached for up to seven days.
Repeated requests: generated results may be cached by Cloudflare for up to 24 hours (one hour for a short result) so identical requests do not need another AI call.
Shortlist: items you save are kept in local storage in your browser on this device. ChristmasIdea does not receive the shortlist unless you choose to send it to us.
Affiliate links: when you follow an Amazon link, Amazon receives the request and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy notice.

Cookies and analytics

The site does not set advertising cookies. If enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics measures aggregate page views without cookies or fingerprinting. Cloudflare Turnstile, if enabled, checks that a request comes from a real browser. Amazon may set its own technologies after you leave ChristmasIdea. This statement will be updated if features or providers change.

International processing

Anthropic is based in the United States. Cloudflare and Pexels may process data outside the United Kingdom as part of providing their services. Before launch, the operator should confirm the providers' current terms and the applicable safeguards for international transfers.

Retention and your choices

AI results are cached for no longer than 24 hours, and photo lookup results for no longer than seven days. The rate-limit identifier changes daily. You can avoid sending a gift request by not using the finder, and you can clear a saved shortlist by clearing this site's browser storage.
